The Leaders want the Cubs to enjoy what they
are doing and hopefully learn some life skills along the way.
One way of learning and achieving is by undertaking and completing achievement
badges. The details are all contained in your Yellow Book or if you have not
been invested yet the details are on the wall of the hall. Achievement badges
cover many aspects and there is bound to be something than any Cub would find of
interest. There are two levels to every achievement badge, the Level 2 badge
representing a higher degree of achievement for any given subject. We encourage
that Cubs undertake as many achievement badges as they want with the help of
their parents/caregivers or siblings. When the Cub is ready to be signed off,
please let a leader know and they will gladly undertake the assessment.
Every term we will also undertake at least one achievement badge as part of
normal programming to ensure that all Cubs have something to show for their time
with us.
In the past, we have run some very successful nights with parents who have been
able to impart their particular knowledge or skill with the Cubs. Recent parent
nights have included, an Ambulance visit, plastics recycling, Judo, to name but
a few. If you feel that you have something that you would like to share with the
Cubs, be it a game, a craft activity, a sport, a talk on a specific subject or a
whole night’s program, then we would love to hear from you. Please talk to any
leader if you have an idea and want to turn it in to something that could be
used on a Cub night.
Also, we are always on the look out for more help. The easiest way to formally
help the Cubs is as a Part Time Activity (PAL) Leader. The only commitment here
is to attend two nights per term. If you think you have this time spare to help
the Cubs, then please talk to any leader for more details.
Parent Helpers are also welcomed on a less formal basis either to help out on
section nights or at camps. If you would like to help out on this basis, then
please contact a Leader for more details to discuss the requirements.
We hope that this term is going to be filled with fun and educational activities
however, if you have any concerns or comments on any aspect of this program,
please do not hesitate to contact any of your leaders:
